MAE, Early Childhood Education
Throughout the program, students apply their learning through fieldwork experiences in at least one of the following age groups: birth to three, three to five, and five to eight. Fieldwork must be completed in at least one of the following settings: primary or elementary school, childcare center or home, and Head Start.

- Research: Evaluate the various educational research paradigmes and develop a theoretical research project utilizing one or more of the methodoloties
- Democratic schools: Apply democratic principles to an authentic educational context
- Global perspectives: Analyze best practices of global educational systems
- Learning theory: Utilize theories of learning and brain research to enhance teaching and student learning
- Curriculum design: Evaluate curriculum design and curricular decisions as they relate to meeting the diverse needs of students
- Ethics: Analyze issues and make ethical decisions within an educational context
- Leadership and program quality: Analyze the effectiveness of an ECE program based on NAEYC standards
